PROJECT III: BUSINESS COMPARISON PRESENTATION

The final assignment is to evaluate the students oral presentation, speaking skills and their ability to research on the required information as well as present their research effectively and fluently. It also aims to demonstrate the principles of communication and behavior in analyzing interaction with others. Besides, students also need to collaborate with other course mates as a team to achieve a common goal. So, we are required to form a group of eight and compare two businesses of the same field with one based in Kuantan and one based in Klang Valley. We were also required to conduct a face-to-face interview and on site observation. The followings are the tasks that we have to do :

1. Background about the business.
2. Analysis in terms of competitors, obstacles or challenges, nature of business and strategies used.
3. Reccomendations such as future plans, expansion and ways to sustain the business.
4. Prepare an oral presentation for about 20-25 minutes with presentation slides.

For this project, I have grouped up with MC,Barbara,Leo and Ameer. As a group, we decided to do a research on hair saloon as all of us thought that it is an interesting business to be studied on.

REFLECTION

The final assignment concludes the modules of English and Effective Public Communication. Throughout this assignment, I learned how to construct a good and productive interview, as well as synthesis the information into a report and presentation slide. I also learned about how the difference of location between businesses effect their operation.In addition, I learned how the leadership and teamwork form everyone can lead us to success in this comparative assignment. Besides, I learned to apply the principles of communication and behavior when interacting with others. Body language, eye contact, tone of voice are very important when we are presenting in front of others so that the audience could easily understand what we are trying to deliver. Throughout this assignment, I felt that I became more confident to present in front of our lecturers and course mates.
