THE LEGO MINIATURE - HANGING MOBILE DISPLAY
PROJECT 2A - 3D HANGING MOBILE EXPLORATION
For this project, we were required to translate the given words into shapes and forms and transform them into 3D form by using design elements and design principles. First and foremost, we have to understand the archietct that we choosen and explore the chosen words and go through the 3 stages of transformation that will be executed during tutorial class. The first stage is to develop the 2D elements such as geometric shapes that best reflect the chosen word and extrude it as planes by using modeling board. Next, we were required to do mock models by using model boards,polystrene,cardboard and any 3 types of materials we choosen by ourself. For the final submission and presentation, we were given the choice to choose our own method and material to make our final 3D model which best reflect the chosen word. The model should be free to hang up like a hanging mobile.We also required to do 2 presentation boards which consist of the architecture that we choosen and also the design element and principles of the hanging mobile artwork.
So, we have to form a group of four and I grouped with Leo,Amelisa and Zhi Qi. Our group was given the word 'ROTRUDE' and we had to design a final model that best express this word.

REFLECTION
Throughout this project, I've learnt how to explore and translate the given word 'PROTRUDE' into design elements and then to 3D models and the archietct we choosen is Steven Holl. My group members and I went through a lot of difficulties in this project especially how does protrude really can be shown in final model making. It was not easy to translate the given word into 3D models, but with the cooperation of everyone and combining the ideas together, we were managed to produce the nine mock-up models and final model with different materials. The idea to show the keyword 'PROTRUDE' is shown projected or standout from the surface. Moreover, I also learned how to hang the mobile freely with all of the considerations such as the weight, balancing point and the environment. Initially,we all agreed that to use stacking method and attach different size of cubes from different meterialswhich can best protray the characteristic of Steven Holl. After the valuation of our lecturers, our commend is bad as the artwork does not shows protrude as because we using glue stick and stacking hence the artwork is more towards overlapping but not PROTRUDE. Start from that day I learn that we should be explore more and think more method by brainstorming but only just rely on using glue on artwork.

PROJECT 2B - THE 3D LEGO MINIATURE HANGING MOBILE
For the final project of Introduction To Design, we were required to create an abstract hanging mobile display for our lego miniature characters. Moreover, we were required to do a series of tasks as followings :
- Maximum of 3 different types of materials for model making.
- Apply suitable design elements and principles to the toy character and selected keyword.
- Should not have any graphic visuals but only produce simple basic lines, colors, geometric shapes, planes and volumes.
- The maximum model size is 50cm(L) x 50cm(W) x 90cm(H) and minimum model size is 30cm(L) x 30cm(W) x 50cm(H).
- 3 A2 Presenation boards.
My lego character is Doraemon and my selected keyword is Magical.

REFLECTION
This is the last project of design which is done by individualy, I've learnt that it was not an easy task to work alone and complete all the things all by myself. It was an challenging project because I have to focus on the design terms that best suitable for my lego toys as well as the consideration to hang the mobile freely. I think that the keyword 'MAGICAL' is the best to describe Doraemon because he is a cartoon magician which can poop up anything that he want at anytime and anywhere.In this time I try to use the lesson and advice from previous project which is not using any glue in this artwork hence I well use the way of intersect method apply on my artwork. I really enjoyed the design process and I think that all we need to produce a nice work is the patience and love towards model making.However many times I fail to build up the final model and many types of experiment I tried but there are a sense of satisfaction when I completed the model. Morover, I also learnt to arrange the composition of presentation boards in order to look as one, and draw the orthographic drawings which is to scale with the hanging mobile.My dear lectural Ms Dee had invited 10 degree panel to evaluate our final project.Mr Prince is the panel I got for my final project.I propose my artwork to him and he suggested me can be using more different kinds of shine and bright colour in order to let it looks more MAGICAL.Besides, he also suggested that I can try to ask a kid to see my project as he said children had more imagination and strong sense toward magical.Lastly, a million thanks to my tutors which have helped and guided me during the tutorial classes. I appreciate it and hope to bring the knowledges and courages to face the degree life. Good luck to me!
